Tortilla Dippers

These Tortilla Dippers are a great alternative to crisps or bread sticks at a party. They take literally minutes to prepare, look great on the table and are pretty darn tasty too. They also work out cheaper than buying packets of good quality crisps or bread sticks. They’re really filling, I only manage 4 or 5 dippers along with carrot sticks etc and I cut each wrap into 8’s. You can buy a whole pack of wraps for under a pound in the supermarket, so not only will your friends be in awe of your kitchen skills and creativity, you’ll have saved yourself a bit of money too.

You can make them a day in advance, but let them cool completely before putting them in an air tight container in the fridge otherwise they might go soggy.

I love them with dips such as houmous and tzatziki (my personal faves) but they also go really well with a big bowl of my Meat Free Chilli Con Carne. Or serve them as nachos topped with cheese, guacamole and sour cream. Yum!

Not a fan of black pepper? Try a sprinkle of salt, paprika or Cayenne pepper instead.

Ready in 3 – 4 mins per tortilla.

Ingredients

  • Tortilla wraps
  • Olive oil
  • Black pepper

Method

  • Drizzle a teaspoon of olive oil onto a tortilla wrap and sprinkle a pinch of black pepper on top. – Pic 1
  • Spread out the olive oil and pepper evenly with your fingers, turn the tortilla wrap over and repeat on the other side, so that both sides have an even coating of oil and pepper. – Pic 2
  • Lay the wrap in a dry, medium/hot frying pan or griddle pan for a minute, or until browned, then flip and brown the other side for a minute. – Pic 3
  • When both sides are a lovely crisp brown colour (I like mine a little charred) take off the heat and cut into slices. – Pic 4
