Well, It’s my 2nd blog birthday tomorrow, so I thought we could celebrate with a yummy little cocktail recipe.
This cocktail is really quick and easy to make and requires no bartending skills at all. You will. however, need a shaker, or a jar with a well fitting lid. You shake the ingredients with ice cubes before pouring into your glass, not to mix the ingredients together, but to chill it. You should shake until the sides of the shaker or jar feel cold, then pour it into your glass, but don’t add the ice cubes, or they’ll dilute the flavour.
I use the syrup / juice from a tin of pear halves to get the lovely, subtle pear flavour. I use tinned pear halves when making my Autumn Bakewell Tart (link here) but always hated throwing out the lovely juice they come in. This cocktail recipe is the perfect way to use it up, and the perfect excuse for a martini.
I know we’re all supposed to be being good now and eating healthily, but it’s my blog birthday, so we’re allowed! Cheers everyone!
This recipe makes one drink. I use a standard shot glass as measurement.
- 1 part extra dry Martini
- 1 part gin
- 1 part elderflower cordial
- 1 1/2 parts syrup or juice from a tin of pears
- A squeeze of lime juice
- Slice of fresh pear to garnish, if desired
- Place all ingredients into a shaker or jar with a well fitting lid.
- Shake until chilled.
- Pour into a martini glass, don’t add the ice.
- Garnish with a slice of fresh pear.
