Camomile and Geranium Soothing Bath Salts

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and of course, you could get your partner (or friend if you’re doing Galentine’s) the obvious flowers and chocolates. But why not go for something a little different this year?

These homemade bath salts are super easy to make, look really impressive and more importantly, feel luxurious when you’re soaking in them. I think they’d make the perfect Valentine’s gift. They’re thoughtful, homemade and wont cost you the earth. If it’s just a little something this year, or a new relationship that’s not yet ready for a bouquet of red roses, the bath salts alone, packaged up in a nice jar with a hand-written label will do. If you want to spend a bit more, use them to create a hamper along with other bath essentials – a bottle of wine, a candle, a facemask and a new book.

I use measuring spoons when mixing my bath salts, but the measurements don’t have to be exact. Feel free to add more, or less of anything, if you like. Just be careful not to add too much liquid to the mix if you’ll be giving it as a gift or not using it right away, as too much moisture will start to breakdown the salt and bicarb, and make for a lumpy bath when eventually used.

You can buy dried Camomile flowers off the internet which look nice, but Camomile Tea is exactly the same thing, just ground up and it’s a LOT cheaper. Just make sure the one you buy contains nothing but 100% Camomile

Ingredients:

  • 60mls of Dead Sea Salts
  • 30mls of Bicarbonate of Soda
  • 6 drops of Geranium oil
  • 1 Camomile tea bag

Method:

  • Mix it all together
  • Run a hot bath
  • Sprinkle in half of the bath salts (if you followed the recipe above, you will have enough for 2 baths)
  • Get in, lie back and relax!
